The British royal family is taking steps to do more in the field of diversity. According to the Mail on Sunday, there are plans to appoint a “diversity chief” to modernize the British monarchy.
The plans for a diversity officer result from the much-discussed interview of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan on Oprah Winfrey. In the conversation, the couple said, among other things, that the royal family had expressed concerns about the skin colour of her then-unborn baby Archie.
Although Prince William denies that his family is racist, Queen Elizabeth said she seriously took the allegations of racism. “The whole family is sad to learn how challenging the past years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, especially those of racism, are of concern. Although the memories will differ, these matters are taken very seriously and addressed personally to the family.”
