The terrorist attack in Nice is the reason for the French justice minister Éric Dupond-Moretti to hold emergency consultations with several European colleagues and the European Commission on Friday.
Minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice and Security) will also be there, he says.
It is “important to fight terrorism and defend democracy together”, tweeted Grapperhaus about the emergency meeting following the “terrible events in France”.
On behalf of the European Commission, Didier Reynders (Justice) and Ylva Johansson (Home Affairs) were scheduled to join on Friday.
In France, the highest threat level has applied since the attack by a suspected Muslim extremist in the southern French seaside resort.
